I forgot to take my Lipitor; what should I do? - Take it as soon as you remember.
But what if I don’t remember until it’s time to take my next dose? - If this is the case, skip the missed dose and continue to take your medication on your regular dosing schedule. IMPORTANT – NEVER DOUBLE DOSE!
What if I or someone I know overdoses? - If an overdose occurs, please seek medical attention immediately.
What are some of the side effects I might experience?
Lipitor side effects are uncommon, but they can occur. If you experience any of the following side effects from taking Lipitor, which do not go away or are bothersome, please see your doctor. Side effects include:
- Blurred Vision
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Heart Burn
- Upset Stomach
- Gas
- Stomach pain or cramps
- Rash or itching
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
If your experience any of the following side effects, we recommend you contact your doctor immediately:
- Muscle cramps or weakness with or without a fever
- Muscle pain (Myalgia) or tenderness
PLEASE NOTE: From time to time, your doctor may request blood tests be performed to monitor your liver functions before and after the use of Israeli Lipitor. It is also important your doctor is aware of any other prescription and non-prescription medications you are currently taking to prevent any drug interactions.
What are some of the warnings or precautions?
Allergies and Medical Conditions - If you have any allergies to prescription medications containing atorvastatin (Lipitor’s active ingredient), inform your doctor immediately. If you have or have had liver or kidney disease, low blood pressure, seizures or a severe infection, let your doctor or pharmacist know.

Pregnancy and Breast Feeding - Do not take Lipitor if you are or plan on becoming pregnant; inform your doctor immediately if this is the case. Research has shown that taking Lipitor while pregnant or breast-feeding can have negative affects on the fetus or infant.
Sun Exposure - Patients are advised to limit their time in direct sunlight since Lipitor may cause their skin to become more sensitive to the sun. Other preventative measures may include using sunscreen, wearing clothing that covers most of the body and wearing a hat to cover areas of the body more sensitive to sun exposure.
Surgery - If you plan on having dental surgery while taking Israel Lipitor, inform your dentist before surgery.
Drug interactions - Always inform your doctor and/or pharmacist about any other prescription, non-prescription medication or vitamins you are taking. This is to ensure your safety, in hopes of preventing any drug interactions.
PLEASE NOTE: Keep Lipitor and other drugs out of the reach of children. Remember to store Lipitor at room temperature in a dry place (don’t store in bathroom or near kitchen sink). Properly dispose of Lipitor that is no longer being taken or has expired.
