What exactly is Fosamax? What is it used for?

Fosamax is a medication primarily used to treat osteoporosis, also known as “brittle-bone disease” in post-menopausal women, but is also used to treat Paget’s disease of the bone. It works effectively to reduce the chance of fractures, including spine and hip fractures. Physicians prescribe Fosamax to men with osteoporosis in order to increase their bone mass.

Paget’s disease is known as a painful condition that weakens and deforms the bones.
